AION 2 Field Guide

The six layers of a build

LayerWhat it decidesPriority
GearYour raw attack, defence and secondary statsFirst, because everything else scales off it
DaevanionYour skill investment and multipliersSecond, because points are finite and hard to refund
SkillsWhich abilities you actually pressThird, once Daevanion tells you what scales
ArcanaCard-based modifiers to your stats. Transcendence Stage 4 is the only party dungeon documented as a source of Unique Arcana cardsFourth, when you have the materials and a card source
PetsCollection and slot bonusesFifth, and mostly a long-term account project
PantheonArtwork and Statue collection converted into permanent stat totals. Pantheon Artwork drops from Expedition Conquest reward tablesLast, because it is endgame content

Daevanion priority by role

Damage classes: Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster

  • Weapon attack or magic attack multipliers first, whichever your class scales from. This is the largest single lever.
  • Critical or burst modifiers second, because damage classes win fights in short windows.
  • Cooldown reduction third, which converts a strong rotation into a more frequent one.
  • One defensive or mobility node last, as insurance rather than as a plan.

Tank: Templar

  • Mitigation and threat nodes before any damage node. A tank that holds the pull is more valuable than one that adds a few percent of damage.
  • Defensive cooldown reduction second, because cooldown uptime is what makes a pull survivable.
  • Group protection utilities third, since a Templar is judged by the party surviving the mechanic.

Healer and support: Cleric, Chanter

  • Healing throughput and cast efficiency first for Cleric.
  • Buff duration and group utility first for Chanter, then melee damage.
  • Defensive nodes are a legitimate spend here, unlike on a pure damage class, because these classes win by outlasting.

What changes at level 50

Before 50, a build is mostly about kill speed and survival while questing. After 50, the content shifts to group objectives where damage windows are shorter, mechanics punish positioning harder, and a wrong Daevanion investment is expensive to undo. That is the moment to stop spreading points and commit. It is also the moment to check whether your gear supports the build you are planning: a burst build on a weak weapon underperforms a scuffed build on a good one almost every time.

A word on published builds

Build sites and community planners publish loadouts for every class, and they are useful reference material rather than authoritative tables. The reliable parts are the reasoning, the stat priorities and the role logic. The unreliable parts are specific numbers, which change with patches. Rebuild after a balance patch rather than assuming your saved loadout is still optimal; the first weeks after a global launch are exactly when class damage gets adjusted.

Pantheon

The decoration collection that converts into permanent statistics, and the last layer of a planned build.

Quests

Episode, Region and Ascension quest categories, and the reward check that stops wasted detours.

Dungeons

Where the gear and wing materials a build is built around actually drop, and how the entry counters work.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Should I max damage before defence on a DPS class?

Yes for damage classes, with a single defensive or mobility node as insurance. Tanks and healers invert this order and put mitigation or throughput first.

Can I respec Daevanion points?

Resets exist but are not free, so treat early points as a committed decision and spend them along a stated priority rather than spreading them evenly.

Are published AION 2 builds reliable?

The reasoning and stat priorities are worth following. The specific numbers change with patches, so re-check after any balance update.
